Journey through the Eastern Himalayas to witness Losar, the Tibetan New Year, a celebration where prayer flags flutter in mountain winds, and life in the highlands blooms with color, rhythm, and reverence. This sojourn offers more than travel; it’s an immersion into light, culture, and the timeless spirit of Tawang.

Day 01: 15 Feb 2026

Guwahati → Tezpur | Through Assam’s Heartland
The journey begins across Assam’s fertile plains, tracing the mighty Brahmaputra toward the heritage town of Tezpur. Along the way, we pass village markets, quiet tea gardens, and serene river crossings.

Day 02: 16 Feb 2026

Tezpur → Dirang | Gateway to the Eastern Himalayas
From the plains to the mountains — we ascend through the lush valleys of Tenga and Bomdila, following the Kameng River as it carves through mist-clad forests and cascading waterfalls.

Day 03: 17 Feb 2026

Dirang → Tawang | Over the High Pass
An early start takes us across the majestic Se La Pass (13,700 ft), a landscape wrapped in snow and silence. Stops at Se La Lake and Jaswantgarh Memorial offer moments to pause and frame the grandeur of the mountains before descending into Tawang.

Day 04 - 06: 18 - 20 Feb 2026

Tawang | The Spirit of Losar
Three days devoted to the rhythm of Losar, where faith, festivity, and light converge.
Witness cham dances in monastery courtyards, prayer flags unfurling with the wind, and locals greeting the New Year in color and song.

Day 07: 21 Feb 2026

Tawang → Bomdila | Valleys in Repose
We begin our descent through the valleys, pausing at Jung Waterfalls and mountain bridges that echo the rhythm of the rivers below. The evening settles softly over the quiet monastery town of Bomdila.

Day 08: 22 Feb 2026

Bomdila → Guwahati | Through Hidden Hamlets
The final stretch takes us through Shergaon and Kalaktang, where the Sherdukpen tribe calls home — a journey through warm smiles, rustic villages, and misty horizons.
We arrive in Guwahati by early afternoon. Participants may choose to take their return flights the same day or extend their stay overnight at their own convenience.

The cost includes

  • Accommodation on a shared occupancy basis, if you want a single supplement, let us know.
  • Group pick-up from Guwahati Airport/Train station at a predetermined schedule only.
  • Airport/train station drop-off to Guwahati.
  • All meals during the tour start from dinner on day 1, ending with breakfast on the last day.
  • All permits (Indian nationals only)/entry fees and local transport in comfortable vehicles.
  • Photography sessions, expert advice and assistance, image reviews and critiques on all days

The cost does not include

  • Transport from your location to your airport of arrival – Guwahati.
  • Additional beverages, snacks.
  • Any kind of insurance.
  • Protected Area Permit fees for foreign nationals
  • Tips and other expenses are not mentioned in the inclusion mentioned above.

Cancellation Policy:

  • 50% of the participation fee is charged as a cancellation fee for cancellations within December 15, 2025.
  • No refund or credit for cancellation after December 31, 2025, or for a no-show.

Accommodation

Due to the nature of the places we are visiting, and the type of accommodation during this tour, we will be staying in cheerful homestays and with local families to get first-hand experience of local culture.

FAQ

Yes, but note that the journey involves long mountain drives, high-altitude conditions, and cold weather. Participants should be reasonably fit and comfortable with road travel.

Tawang: ~10,000 ft
Se La Pass: ~13,700 ft
The itinerary is designed to allow gradual acclimatization.

Expect sub-zero temperatures in Tawang and chilly conditions throughout the mountains. Warm winter clothing is essential.

Foreign nationals require a Protected Area Permit (PAP) for Arunachal Pradesh. PAP fees are not included in the tour cost.

Some days involve 6–8 hours of driving, especially when crossing mountain passes or valleys.

The group carries a basic first-aid kit, but participants must bring personal medications.

Essential winter gear includes: Down jacket / heavy winter coat; Thermal layers; Woollen cap, gloves, muffler; Warm socks; Waterproof boots; Sunscreen and lip balm (high UV at altitude); Rainproof/windproof outer layer

Network coverage varies: Guwahati, Tezpur: Good 4G/5G coverage; Dirang, Bomdila: Limited but workable; Tawang: Patchy network; data may be slow
The tour encourages enjoying the mountains without depending on connectivity.

The Eastern Himalayas can experience landslides, snowfall, fog, and weather changes. While the team monitors conditions closely and works with local contacts, delays or reroutes may occur for safety.
