ARCTIC MIDNIGHT 2027

1-10 FEBRUARY, 2027

A 10-Day Northern Lights & Astro-Photography Expedition

DATES

1-10 FEBRUARY, 2027

DURATION

10 DAYS/ 9 NIGHTS

LOCATION

Tromsø • Senja • Skibotn (Norway)

The "Mysterious & Deep" Vibe

In the Heart of the Obsidian Silence

Most travelers merely glimpse the Northern Lights; we pursue them into the depths of the infinite. By aligning our journey with the New Moon of February 6th, we surrender the world to total darkness. Without the moon’s interference, the sky becomes an obsidian stage where the ‘Green Lady’ dances in her truest form. This is your mission: to capture the stars, the Milky Way, and the Aurora as they were meant to be seen—unveiled, uninterrupted, and breathtakingly pure.

The "Artist & Poet" Set

Best for a photography-focused audience who wants to "feel" the location.

  • The Sanctuary of Clarity

While the rest of the coast hides behind a veil of clouds, we retreat to Skibotn—the legendary "Blue Hole" of the North. In this unique mountain rain-shadow, the sky parts to reveal a window into the infinite, offering the clearest path to the stars when others see only grey.

  • Sentinels of the Arctic Edge

Spend three nights in the shadow of Senja’s jagged majesty. We will compose our masterpieces against the "Dragon’s Teeth"—ancient, granite spires that rise violently from the dark Atlantic, providing the most dramatic silhouette for the dancing lights.

  • Nomads of the Obsidian Night

Forget the rigid routes of tour buses. With two dedicated AWD SUVs, we are ghost-chasers. We have the freedom to pivot 200km at a moment’s notice, hunting the horizon and outrunning the weather to ensure your lens always finds the light.

The Arctic Triangle

A 1,000km Journey from the Jagged Coast to the Inland Frontier

Tromsø
The Gateway Hub

This is our starting and ending point. It’s known as the “Paris of the North” and serves as our base for coastal fjord photography.
Key Spots: Kvaløya Island, Ersfjordbotn, and Grotfjord.
Role: Technical calibration and coastal vanguard shoots.

Senja
The Coastal Masterpiece

Often described as “Norway in miniature,” Senja offers the most dramatic mountain-meets-sea landscapes in the Arctic.

  • Key Spots: Tungeneset (The “Dragon’s Teeth”), Mefjordvær, and the Bergsbotn viewpoint.
  • Role: High-composition landscape photography and fjord panoramas.

Skibotn
The "Blue Hole"

This is a small village located inland, famous among meteorologists and aurora hunters for its unique micro-climate.

  • Key Spots: Signaldalen (home to the pyramid-shaped Otertinden mountain) and the Lyngen Alps vistas.
  • Role: Our New Moon Base. Because it sits in a rain shadow, it often has crystal-clear “Obsidian” skies even when the coast is cloudy.

Finnsnes
Transfer Point

While not a primary shooting location, we pass through this town to cross the iconic bridge over to Senja Island. It’s our main supply hub for the mid-trip stretch.

Visa Process

Since we are traveling as a professional photography group, your chances of approval are much higher. Here is how we handle it:

Our Support:

We provide a Group Invitation Letter, a confirmed day-wise itinerary, and all hotel vouchers required for your Schengen (Norway) visa.

The Submission:

We will coordinate a Group Appointment so all 8 participants apply together. This demonstrates to the Embassy that you are part of a legitimate, organized workshop.

Your Part:

Your Part: You will need to visit the VFS center in your city for biometrics and to submit your personal financial documents.

Responsibility:

While we provide 100% documentation support, the final decision rests solely with the Norwegian Embassy. Visa fees are paid directly to VFS and are non-refundable.

FAQ

Everything you need to know before the chase.

You need a camera with Manual Mode capabilities and a sturdy tripod. A wide-angle lens with a fast aperture ($f/2.8$ or lower) is highly recommended.

Expect temperatures between -10°C and -15°C. We provide a detailed “Layering Guide” to keep you warm, and our heated 4×4 SUVs are always nearby to serve as mobile basecamps.

While we can’t control the sun, our 10-day window and “Blue Hole” strategy (bypassing coastal clouds) give us a 95% success rate. We go where the clear sky is.

This is a photography trip, not a trekking expedition. Most locations are a short walk from our vehicles. If you can walk on uneven, snowy ground, you are fit enough to join.

Yes. Our route is fluid. We adjust the itinerary daily based on real-time weather, safety, and satellite data to optimize your photography opportunities.

Absolutely. Non-photographers are welcome to enjoy the scenery, but please note the pace is slow and photo-oriented. We do not offer separate pricing for non-photographers.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

Because we secure elite Arctic lodges, specialized 4×4 expedition vehicles, and local Norwegian logistics months in advance, all cancellations are subject to the following strictly managed schedule.

  • 90 Days or more: A 25% cancellation fee of the total expedition cost will be applied.
  • 89 to 60 Days: A 50% cancellation fee of the total expedition cost will be applied.
  • 59 Days or less (including No-Shows): 100% of the total cost is non-refundable and will be forfeited.
  • Non-Refundable Costs: Please note that the initial booking deposit is used to secure non-refundable international logistics and is generally forfeited in the event of a cancellation.
  • The “Replacement” Clause: If you are unable to join the tour but can provide a replacement participant to take your slot, we will allow a transfer of the booking for a nominal administrative fee, provided the new participant meets all visa and documentation requirements.
  • Mandatory Insurance: We strongly advise all participants to purchase Comprehensive Travel Insurance that includes “Trip Cancellation” coverage. This is the only way to recover your costs in the event of personal medical emergencies or unforeseen life events.
  • Force Majeure: In the highly unlikely event that the organizers must cancel the expedition due to safety, extreme weather, or local Norwegian conditions, a full refund (less any non-recoverable banking/transaction fees) will be provided.
